The Ascension of Our Lord

God Is Gone Up with a Shout

Psalm 47: 5

Since Ascension occurs forty days after Easter, during the week, it is proper to celebrate Jesus' ascension into heaven on the following Sunday. Celebrating Ascension day gives us a sense of the completion of Jesus' life on earth, as we move from his birth, through ministry, trial, death, resurrection, and finally ascension.

This verse from Psalm 47:5 makes one of my favorite bulletin boards.

Using a light blue background, make lots of fluffy clouds from cotton (or polyester) batting from the fabric store. Batting is the substance that makes quilts fluffy.

Make trumpets from gold cardboard. Decorate them with rhinestones and streamers. You can have streamers descend from the clouds as well if you like.
