Peter was a man of changeable temperament and many enthusiasms. Even though it was his strong declaration of faith (Matthew 16: 13 - 20) that Jesus responded to by saying, "Upon this rock I will build my church," after the Passover supper on the evening of Holy Thursday, Peter denied his being a follower of Jesus three times before the sun rose on the morning of Good Friday.
