Second Sunday of Pentecost
The Holy Spirit Descends as Flames of Fire
Spinners bring forth the drama of Pentecost.
Cut a flame shape from a large sheet of red plastic or paper (8 - 1/2 by 11 is fine) - you want a spinner that is flexible, but sturdy.
Decorate it with colored foil or glitter. Glue tightly.
I used a sheet of transparent formex film overlaid on a sheet of 2 mil plastic and decorated it with 3 - D film, so the spinner was translucent. The children were captivated by their shimmering creations.
Beginning at center bottom, cut a continuous strip about 3/4 of an inch wide.
Punch a hole in the center of the very last cut (it spins more freely if it spins from the middle). Attach a cord or lanyard and let the flames of the Holy Spirit descend on your head and the heads of your friends.
