Fifth Sunday of Easter

Let Yourselves Be Built into a Spiritual House

I Peter 2: 5

In the ancient world, pagan temples were built of many columns holding up a roof, and sometimes the columns were stylized representations of people - often figures of young girls, or figures of conquered enemies.

Peter's image of a new spiritual house built in this fashion with the bodies of Christians holding up the roof of the church is a wonderful one.

Put up a white or goldenrod (or light yellow) background, and add the banner.

You may make ornate columns with each child's name on his own column in gold letters, or you may make full figure portraits of each child holding up the House of God.
