Nineteenth Sunday of Pentecost

I Will Break through Iron Bars on the Bronze Gates of Cities

Isaiah 45: 2

In Jesus' day, cities were built inside stone walls, with huge, heavy gates that were locked at night, so no enemies or strangers could enter after dark.

But God is everywhere, and no wall nor gate can keep him out.

Cut circles or rectangles from sheets of gold, silver, or bronze cardboard. Cut nested shapes, so you use as much of the cardboard as you can.

Use a hole punch to punch a hole in each shape, and string them together with gold or silver cord or with fish line.

Hang them to make a gate or curtain.
