Seventh Sunday of Easter

Jesus Prays for Himself and for His Disciples

John 17: 1 - 11

Prayer was a highly important part of Jesus' life. Many times he withdrew from the disciples to have time alone with God. In this passage, he sets them examples of how to pray, first praying to God about his own relationship with him, and then, in what we call intercessory prayer, praying for his disciples.

The most important prayer he taught to his disciples was The Lord's Prayer, also called the Our Father.

1. What has God given to Jesus?

[God has given Jesus eternal life.]

2. Who did God give to Jesus?

[God gave Jesus the disciples.]

3. What does Jesus ask God to do for the disciples?

[Jesus asks God to protect them by the power of his name].
