Second Sunday of Epiphany

God Paid A Great Price for You

1 Corinthians 6: 20

Jesus paid the greatest of all prices - he paid for our sins with his own life.

In the explanation of the Second Article of the Apostles' Creed, we say, "He has freed me from sin, death, and the power of the devil - not with silver or gold, but with his holy and precious blood and his innocent suffering and death."

Copy the cover on green card stock. Make a cross of wooden sticks or sandpaper.

Then surround the cross with all the things that Jesus didn't use to redeem us - gold or silver coins or other money - to show that he gave the greatest of gifts for us.

You might want to hand out the wrapped chocolate coins of Hanukkah or Mardi Gras for this lesson.
