John, Apostle and Evangelist

There Aren't Enough Books in All the World

John 21: 20 - 25

This passage refers to the last meal Jesus had with his disciples before his death. John places the meal the night before the beginning of the Feast of the Passover - Matthew, Mark, and Luke say the meal was the Passover meal itself.

After Jesus' resurrection, he met with the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias (another name for Sea of Galilee).

John, the clarifier of disputes, ends one last discussion as he closes his book.

1. How does John, the teller of the story, identify himself?

[John calls himself the disciple Jesus loved.]

2. What had John asked Jesus at the Last Supper?

[John asked Jesus which disciple would betray him.]

3. What will happen when Jesus comes again?

[Jesus will come again to rule as king over heaven and earth.]

4.What could not be contained in all the books in the world?

[All the books in the world could not contain everything Jesus said and did.]
