Sixth Sunday of Easter

Sing Unto the Lord a New Song

Psalm 98: 1

The first musical instruments mentioned in the Psalms are cymbals and tambourines.

The organs, pianos, and guitars that we know came thousands of years later.

We can write new words to old tunes (Earth and All Stars, Lutheran Book of Worship 558, for example), or sing new tunes to old words. Try singing "Be Present at Our Table, Lord" to the music from the Addams Family theme or to "Up On the Housetop" (that's a bit trickier, but really fun once you get the hang of it).

Or learn to sing a table grace like the Johnny Appleseed song that is new to your class.

Add cymbals and tambourines, and you will have made a new song!

(Document your creation as a resource for next year's class.)
