The Seventh Sunday of Epiphany

Jesus Heals a Man Who Can't Walk

Mark 2: 1 - 12

Matthew 9: 1 - 8

Luke 5: 17 - 26

Just as the lepers could not go to the Temple to pray, people with birth defects or certain physical injuries were not allowed in the Temple either.

The Jewish people of that time believed those people were being punished by God, just like the lepers were.

When Jesus told the man his sins were forgiven, he meant that the man could now worship God in the Temple.

Many rooftops are flat in that part of the world, and people use them like balconies or patios.

1. Where was Jesus at the time of this story?

[Jesus was in Capernaum.]

2. How did his friends find a way for the crippled man to reach Jesus?

[His friends cut a hole in the rooftop and lowered the crippled man down to Jesus.]

3.What did Jesus tell the man?

[Jesus told the man his sins were forgiven.]

4. What did Jesus tell the man after that?

[Jesus told the man to pick up his mat and go home.]
