Twelfth Sunday of Pentecost

Wisdom Has Prepared the Meat and Set Out the Wine

Proverbs 9: 1- 6

God invites us to many feasts. We see the feast of fat things in Isaiah 25: 6 - 12 as the feast of the life to come.

We feasted on manna in the wilderness and ate bread and fish with thousands of people and we know that Jesus is the bread of life, the bread from heaven.

Jesus invites us to the Lord's table in the sacrament of Holy Communion, where he gives us strength for our lifelong journeys with his own presence with, through, and under the bread and wine.

And he invites us, the ignorant and foolish, to the feast of wisdom in the book of Proverbs. In the book of Proverbs, Wisdom is often pictured as a wise woman.

We also might want to look at God's plan for the ignorant and the foolish in 1 Corinthians.

1.What has Wisdom done?

[Wisdom has prepared the meat and set out the wine.]

2. Who does Wisdom invite to her feast?

[Wisdom invites the ignorant and the foolish to her feast.]

3. Who is welcome at Wisdom's feast?

[Everyone is welcome at Wisdom's feast.]
