Thirteenth Sunday of Pentecost

I Take No Pleasure in the Death of the Wicked

Ezekiel 33:11

God's true wish is that each and every one of us on this planet would be reconciled to him.

Is that our true wish about everyone we meet or deal with?

We sing "Unto Thee O Lord" and ask that God would protect us from our enemies, but we need to pray for the welfare of our enemies as well as to ask for protection from them.

The Intercession for Our Enemies

O God, the Lord of all,
your son commanded us to love our enemies and to pray for them.
Lead us from prejudice to truth;
deliver us from hatred, cruelty, and revenge;
and enable us to stand before you,
reconciled through your son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen

If we have not begun our Prayer Books, today is a good time to begin them.

Otherwise, add this prayer to the book.

And what does it say about us and our culture that many of our enemies are machines, not animals or people?
